Parallax1

Updated 11/7/2015 for Passat content. The big news for the 2016 Volkswagens: diesels will not be on sale for an indeterminate length of time, with the exception of the Touareg TDI. Until the U.S. EPA determines that the diesel engines meet standards without a defeat device, 2016 Volkswagen's with the four-cylinder diesel engine are not certified for sale.

Beetle

2016 Volkswagen Beetle Regular gas is now recommended for R-Line's 2.0 turbo engine. SEL models get blind spot monitoring, cross-traffic warning and back-up warning monitors. Automatic headlights are now standard, SE and SEL models have standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smart phone integration. The SEL's navigation system now has real-time traffic monitoring. The new entry-level 1.8T S does not have the standard heated seats from last year's base Beetle 1.8T.

CC

2016 Volkswagen CC 2.0T Trend is the new entry-level trim. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smart phone integration are now standard. Sport and R-Line get Keyless Access. CC VR6 now has standard autonomous emergency braking and front collision warning, this system will slam on the brakes for you if you're about to crash. Lane Departure Warning and Assist is also included.

e-Golf

2016 Volkswagen e-Golf This all-electric vehicle gets a new entry level model: e-Golf SE, with a price $6600 less than the SEL Premium. The biggest difference is the 7.2 kW charger that will charge the batteries twice as fast as the 3.6 kW charger in the SE. SEL Premium models also get auto dimming mirrors, LED headlights, front and rear Park Distance Control and Navigation. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smart phone integration is standard. A new Driver Assistance Package offers autonomous emergency braking and front collision warning: this system will slam on the brakes for you if you're about to crash. It also includes Parking Steering Assistant, an automated parking system.

Eos

2016 Volkswagen Eos The final version is reduced to one trim at a $4000 price reduction.

Golf

2016 Volkswagen Golf 4dr A rearview camera is now standard on S, making 2-Door TSI base the only model without. Driver Assistance Package now offers autonomous emergency braking. Adding to front collision warning, this system will slam on the brakes for you if you're about to crash. It also now adds Lane Departure Warning with Lane Assist, Parking Steering Assistant (automated parking system) and Adaptive Cruise Control. S, SE and SEL models have standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smart phone integration. The SEL's navigation system now has real-time traffic monitoring.

Golf R

2016 Volkswagen Golf R 4dr A six-speed manual transmission is now offered in addition to the dual-clutch automated 6-speed. Driver Assistance Package now offers autonomous emergency braking and front collision warning, Lane Departure Warning with Lane Assist, Parking Steering Assistant (automated parking system) and Adaptive Cruise Control.

Golf SportWagen

2016 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen Rearview camera now standard on all models. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smart phone integration is standard.The SEL's navigation system now has real-time traffic monitoring. New Driver Assistance Package offers autonomous emergency braking. GTI

2016 Volkswagen GTI 4dr Rearview camera is now standard on all models. Driver Assistance Package (optional on SE and Autobahn) now offers autonomous emergency braking. Adding to front collision warning, this system will slam on the brakes for you if you're about to crash. It also now adds Lane Departure Warning with Lane Assist, Parking Steering Assistant (automated parking system) and Adaptive Cruise Control. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smart phone integration is standard.

Jetta

2016 Volkswagen Jetta The 2.0 SOHC 4-cylinder engine, dating from the eighties, is finally being replaced. A 1.4 turbocharged DOHC turbocharged engine with direct injection replaces it. This engine, basically the Jetta Hybrid's without the battery, is much more modern, powerful, and fuel-efficient than the ancient 2.0 it replaces, the last four cylinder on earth with only two valves per cylinder. The 1.4T is now not only the base, but replaces the 1.8T as the first step up in the 1.4T SE. Now the 170 horsepower 1.8T is only available as a limited edition 1.8T Sport. Driver Assistance Package (optional on TDI SEL and TSI SEL) now offers autonomous emergency braking. Adding to front collision warning, this system will slam on the brakes for you if you're about to crash. It also now adds Adaptive Cruise Control. The new package will be offered later in the model year. The Jetta GLI gets an aggressive new fascia and grille with a red stripe.

Passat

2016 Volkswagen Passat New front and rear bumpers, lights and grille mark the refreshed design which also includes a new multimedia center. Two carry-over engines are available: a 1.8 turbocharged four  cylinder and a 3.6 narrow-angle VR6. Automatic transmission is now standard on the 1.8T. Fuel mileage for the 1.8T is up by 1 city and 2 highway for a total of 25 city/38 highway. VR^ mileage is unchanged. For obvious reasons, the TDI turbodiesel is on vacation for now. A new R-Line trim includes Passat's first nineteen-inch wheels, unique rocker panels, rear air diffuser and other styling cues. New infotainment systems all include touch-screen interfaces. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Windows Phone MirrorLink are available. A backup camera is now standard. Automatic Post-Collision Braking has been added, if a collision is detected, the brakes are activated to help reduce the chances or severity of secondary collisions. Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking are now optional. Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Lane Departure Warning are also now all available. Dual zone climate control i now standard on all models. As part of the redesign, the cruise control has been moved off of the turn signal stalk and placed on the face of the steering wheel, a big improvement.

Tiguan

2016 Volkswagen Tiguan Rain-sensitive front wipers, automatic headlights, automatic dimming rearview mirror, Keyless Access, heated windshield washer nozzles and heated front seats are now standard. R-Line and SEL change places in the pecking order: SEL is now top of the line.

Touareg

2016 Volkswagen Touareg The Touareg Hybrid, with its lackluster 20 city/24 highway fuel mileage, is cancelled. R-Line is also gone, leaving Sport, Lux and Executive. 21-inch wheels and ventilated front seats are now optional on Lux and Executive.
