EcoSport

2020 Ford EcoSport

An 8-inch touchscreen is now standard on SE and above. FordPass is standard on all models, with the ability to start your vehicle remotely with your smartphone among other perks. This means the SOS Post-Crash Alert System is also standard: uses a connected cell phone to call 911 if a crash is detected.

The adjustable rear cargo shelf is now standard on SE, Titanium and SES.

Edge

2020 Ford Edge

Dual-zone electronic climate control, 10-way power driver's seat and a reverse sensing system are now standard. Edge SE no longer has an automatic dimming rearview mirror.

A new Titanium Elite package offers polished 20-inch wheels, color-matching lower body cladding, chrome accents for the grille, brick-colored exclusive floor mats, reddish brown leather seats with red stitching and polished aluminum trim on the dash.

Escape

2020 Ford Escape at 2019 NYIAS

The Escape is completely new for 2020. A longer wheelbase (almost an inch longer at 106.7) promises a smoother ride and delivers an inch-and-a-half more rear legroom.

Under the hood, the only engine that carries over is the 2.0-liter turbo. If you just glance it looks like they are all from 2019, but the 2.5 liter is a brand-new design, now a hybrid or a plug-in hybrid. The 1.5-liter turbo is now a three cylinder, obviously not related to the 2019 1.5 turbo 4-cylinder, though with almost identical power. Six-speed automatics are replaced by eight-speeds, except the hybrids, which receive CVT (continuously variable transmissions). All-wheel drive is optional with any of the engines. The 180-horsepower 1.5 turbo 3-cylinder is now the standard engine.

2020 Ford Escape Interior at 2019 NYIAS

Inside a prominent central touchscreen is standard. Evoking Mercedes, it can control most interior features, but knobs, switches and buttons are also available, improving ergonomics. A rotary shifter and an electronic parking brake fill the center console space in front of the armrest.

Expedition

2020 Ford Expedition

The King Ranch version is back, in regular and Max lengths, nestled between the Limited and Platinum. With 22-inch polished aluminum wheels, the King Ranch "Running W" logo, gray painted grille mesh, lower bumper, power running boards and more it gives buyers a different choice for going upscale.

Platinum models get more extensive and plusher leather trim, including a leather trimmed dashboard and other cow-swathed trim.

SYNC 3 is now standard on all models with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. FordPass Connect is standard, so although a traditional remote engine start feature is an option, remotely starting through your smartphone from anywhere on the planet with cell reception is standard.

On the safety side, forward collision warning with autonomous braking, automatic high beams, lane departure warning, lane keeping, driver drowsiness alert, blind spot warning and rear cross traffic alert are now standard, packaged as Ford Co-Pilot 360™. The 360° parking camera is now also available on XLT, as is the dual headrest flat screen entertainment system.

Explorer

2020 Ford Explorer ST 2019 NAIAS

This is the largest change to the Explorer since it was new or 2011, when it moved from being rear-wheel drive to front-wheel drive.

For 2020, the Explorer is once again rear-wheel drive. Four-wheel drive is available and the engines include a turbocharged 2.3 4-cylinder (300 horsepower), a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 (365 or 400 horsepower) and a 3.3-liter hybrid V6 (318 horsepower). All versions run a 10-speed automatic transmission.

An ST version brags larger tires, 400 horsepower and sporty looks.

F-150

2020 Ford F-150

Post-Crash Alert System is now standard on all models. Co-Pilot 360 is now standard on Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited: automatic high-beams, blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, Lane-Keeping System, Driver Alert. There are new silver, red and white paints.

F-Super Duty

2020 Ford F-350 SuperCrew Platinum at 2019 CAS

The F-Super Duty lineup is refreshed for 2020.

A new, traditional overhead-valve 7.3-liter gasoline V8 is now an option and comes with a new heavy-duty 10-speed automatic transmission. The 6.2-liter gas V8 is still standard. The Power-Stroke Diesel is upgraded and now has a ten-speed automatic transmission. Up 25 horsepower and 115 pound-feet of torque, that gives Ford the bragging rights for torque (1050) and diesel horsepower (475). Maximum towing goes from 35,000 to 37,000 with the new diesel. (F-450 Regular Cab.) Other configurations get similar large increases.

Automatic Emergency Braking is offered on the F-Super Duty for the first time, standard on XLT and higher trims, optional on XL. Automatic High Beams are standard on all models. Lane departure warning is standard on all trims, except XL.

A Tremor off-road package is being offered to compete against the Ram 2500 Power Wagon. It is raised two inches from a standard F-Super Duty. Unlike Ram, the Tremor will be offered on F-250 and F-350; the Power Wagon is strictly a three-quarter ton truck. Ford claims the Tremor has a 33-inch wading clearance, greater than Ram or GM. The Tremor isn't available with the standard 6.2 V8; it requires the new 7.3 gas V8 or the 6.7 turbodiesel. It comes with 35" LT285/75R18 off-road tires. The transfer case and axles have vent tubes to prevent water contamination.

All standard F-Super Duty models are raised up and have higher ground clearances, by a little less than half-an-inch.

SYNC® is standard on all models. A wireless phone charger (Qi standard) is available (not on XL or XLT). With FordPass standard on all models, you can even remote-star an XL from another state with your cell phone.

Fiesta

Discontinued.

Flex

Gone.

Fusion

2020 Ford Fusion

As anyone who hasn't been stranded in Iran knows: the Fusion is not long for this world. 2020 being the last model year, the model goes mostly unchanged, except if you want the Fusion Sport with its 2.7-liter turbo V6 and all-wheel drive, in which case you need to go pick up a 2019 while they're still available.

Automatic dimming interior rearview mirror is now standard on all Fusions. ...and the other hand takes away: Fusion trades a compact spare for an inflator and a can of sealer.

Fusion SE now offers optional heated front seats and heated side mirrors. Fusion SE now has a standard Reverse Sensing System.

The Fusion Titanium trades its 10-way power front passenger seat for 6-ways, matching SE and SEL.

You can no longer get the Enhanced Automatic Park Assist: you'll have to parallel park yourself and the front parking sensors that came with it are gone, too.

The "Fusion Energi" is now called the "Fusion Plug-In Hybrid" just to be clearer.

Mustang

2020 Ford Mustang

A new High Performance EcoBoost engine adds 20 horsepower over the standard 2.3 turbo 4-cylinder for a total of 330. Part of the 2.3L High Performance Package, it can be upgraded with the new EcoBoost Handling Package, which upgrades the tires to 265/40R19 on wider wheels, adds the adjustable MagneRide suspension and the premium brakes.

New wheel designs for 17 and 19-inch size wheels. Compact spare is now available with 20-inch wheels.

Ranger

2020 Ford Ranger

FordPass with remote start and 911 Assist is now standard on all models. Dual zone automatic air conditioning and satellite radio are now standard on XLT and Lariat. Heated power driver's and front passenger seat are standard on the Lariat.

A new FX2 package brings an off-road look and feel to the 2-wheel drive Ranger, with decals, a locking rear differential and an off-road display in the instrument cluster.

Shelby GT350

2020 Ford Shelby GT350

Many of the new features Ford engineers dreamed up to make the new GT500 a nightmare to its competitors were added to the GT350 this year. New steering geometry leads the way, with a redesigned steering knuckle, electric power boost calibration and steering rack. All Mustangs get revised shades of bright green, silver, orange and deep red.

Shelby GT500

2020 Ford Shelby GT500 2019 NAIAS

The biggest news in the Mustang world for 2020 is the new supercharged, 760-horsepower Shelby GT500.

Taurus

The last Ford Taurus rolled off the line in Chicago on March 1. No 2020 Taurus.

Transit

Ford Transit Van

All-wheel drive will now be offered in the Transit.

The Transit also gets a new diesel: a 2.0-liter twin-turbocharged 4-cylinder diesel will replace the old 5-cylinder turbo diesel; it will have automatic start-stop technology to save gas at traffic lights. A redesigned 3.5-liter V6 takes over from the 3.7-liter. The 3.5 twin-turbo returns, now also with start-stop technology. A new 10-speed automatic transmission will also improve efficiency and acceleration. A new optional 31-gallon fuel tank extends range even further.

Electric-assisted power steering replaces the hydraulic assist.

In addition, Automatic High-Beam Headlamps, Lane Keep Assist, post-collision braking, frontal collision warning and automatic emergency braking have been added to the Transit, standard. Rain-sensitive wipers are now standard on all models. Enhanced Park Assist (steers into and out of parallel and perpendicular parking spots), Blind Spot Information with Cross Traffic Alert and Trailer Coverage are now available as options.

A new crew van adds a three-person bench to the back of the cargo van. A power sliding door will be offered on both cargo and passenger versions. Swivel front seats will be available.

FordPass is standard with remote starting and Wi-Fi hot-spot.

Transit Connect

2020 Ford Transit Connect Wagon

The promised 1.5 turbo-diesel never appeared and Ford says it's not coming due to low demand. The short-wheelbase passenger Transit Connect Wagon is discontinued; the cargo van is still available in two lengths.

Automatic on/off headlights are now standard and Rain-Sensing wipers are available on XL Cargo van, standard on passenger wagons.
