The new Defender gets a new trim level: X-Dynamic. Available on the Defender 90 as the Defender 90 X-Dynamic S and Defender 110 as the Defender 110 X-Dynamic SE or Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE, it is mostly a rugged appearance package with the looks of the higher capability Defender 90 X and 110 X. The Discovery HSE is not offered without the X-Dynamic trim.

Satellite radio, Rear [cross] traffic Monitor and Clear Exit Warning (alerting passengers if a vehicle is approaching before they open their door into traffic) are now standard.

New bumpers, headlights, and taillights are part of the refresh for 2021.

The exterior tweaks are minor compared to the powertrains, which are both new for 2021. The 3.0 supercharged V6 and the Td6 3.0 diesel are both gone. The new base engine is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with 296 horsepower (P300). The optional engine is a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder mild hybrid with a turbocharger and an electric supercharger (P360); it is rated at 355 horsepower. Larger brakes accompany the new P360: 15-inch front ventilated rotors and 14.4-inch rear ventilated rotors.

Maximum trailer towing is increased to 8200 pounds from 7716. The 2.0-liter tows 6613 pounds. The previously optional 7-passenger seating configuration is now standard.

Like many other Jaguar/Land Rover products, the Discovery gets a new Pivi Pro infotainment system with a larger 11.4-inch touch screen and software-over-the-air updates. A wireless phone charger is now offered and it includes a phone signal booster.

Third row seating, power-folding second row seats, Electronic Air Suspension, 20-inch wheels, 3D Surround Camera, Satellite radio, and a power tilt and telescoping steering wheel are now standard. Automatic high beams are no longer standard. Adaptive headlights are no longer offered.

The more powerful version of the 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder has been discontinued, leaving the "R Dynamic" name less meaningful. The 246-horsepower engine is now the only choice.

An automatic dimming driver's sideview mirror and satellite radio are now standard. A new 3D Surround Camera is standard equipment.

Park Assist, adaptive headlights, ventilated front seats and massaging front seats are no longer offered.

A new Westminster trim level is the only way to get the 400-horsepower version of the inline 6-cylinder turbo/supercharged hybrid. The Td6 diesel is no longer offered on the base model, but comes with the HSE.

Brakes on the Td6 are upgraded: now 14.3-inch front rotors and 13.8 rear.

A new ionizing air filter is available to provide a cleaner interior environment.

A Range Rover Autobiography Fifty Edition commemorates the fiftieth anniversary of the Range Rover model. An SVAutobiography Dynamic Black Edition is offered on top of the usual SVAutobiography and offers black metallic paint, black gloss exterior accents, 22-inch gloss black wheels and tread plates.

The more powerful version of the 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder has been discontinued, leaving the "R Dynamic" name less meaningful. The 246-horsepower engine is now the only choice.

3D Surround Camera, adaptive cruise control, 12-way power front seats, and satellite radio are now standard. A wireless phone charger is now available as an option and it includes a signal booster.

The new cabin air ionizing filter is offered here, too.

Td6 models get larger brakes: 14.3 inches front and 13.8 inches rear.

The old supercharged V6 is replaced by Land Rover's newer 3.0 turbocharged and electrically supercharged inline six-cylinder mild hybrids. Like the older V6 engines, they are supplied in two horsepower levels: P340 with 335 horsepower and P400 with 395 horsepower. The 5.0 supercharged SVA version is discontinued.

The standard front brake rotors are much larger: 14-inches.

3D Surround Camera and power headlights washers are now standard. Park Assist automated parking is no longer offered.
