After the 2015 Chicago Auto Show a 17-vehicle accident with one confirmed fatality backed up traffic heading South on Interstate 55 for hours in Gardner, Illinois today. I-55 Traffic Stopped[/caption] An unnamed Illinois State Trooper indicated that a Fed-Ex double semi tractor trailer initially collided with a passenger car in white-out conditions caused by high winds and snow. Traffic eventually was turned around onto North-bound lanes of I-55 and re-routed, primarily to State Highway 53 (Historic Route 66), where it was able to resume travel on I-55 at the Gardner entrance.
